DINNER

I could be a better cook.
If you knew me well, you'd laugh.
I'm not trying to be modest. I'm horrible.

So tonight, Chris and I decided to cook dinner. So I could get better. We wanted to get produce from Farmer's Market last night, but instead we went and spent all of our money on Govinda's garden cafe, used travel books (lonely planet citiescapes, for only $3 each, shizam), anthologies of Emerson, frozen yogurt, and fresh squeezed blood orange juice.

After I got off work, we spent way too much time leafing through a cookbook I bought off of amazon, bickering about if we wanted spicy ride noodles, vegetable kebabs, or asparagus and potatoes with lemon butter. Finally we decided to make a salad with spinach, grilled zucchini, tofu, and asparagus, and a pasta with ricotta, lemon, spinach and fresh basil (there is a picture of my plate, above). And we spent again way too long in the grocery store, Chris taking pictures of ugly frog lawn ornaments, and sending them to everyone on his blackberry. So by the time we sat down to eat, I was starving.

I'm getting better already, Phil Gray. And even if I don't, you still did promise me that you'd come over for dinner at least 3 times a quarter, and I'm holding you to that. This is what true friendship means. Eating each other's crappy food.
