I am aware that LA might have a bit more smog than Portland, or might lack the sophistication of Seattle. But LA, in the midst of the filthy rich, the barrios, the chicanos, little tokyo, beverly hills, comes so much media and innovation, in this sort of mixed-messed-melting pot of a city I love. Maybe it's because I associate it with family. Unpretentious people who go to art schools and know all about Rudolph Steiner, who live right over the Edison, and roll their eyes when their building parking lot is cleared out and reserved again for another film crew. Who still eat hot dogs from street carts in the garment district, and and are some of the most free-thinking and interesting people I know. Love, love love.
