hey, thanks
My cousin Tony hates Flight of the Conchords. He grumbles that they look like "any guy walking down the street in Silverlake", and that the episodes have the potential to be brilliant, but somehow they always disappoint. Yeah, whatev, he's a hater, but what's ironic and hilarious is that he, himself, looks and dresses an uncanny amount like Bret.

It might be a cliche tradition to sit around the dinner table and list the things you are thankful for, but I still value it, and believe it important to do so. I don't see my family very often, and when I do, it's fun to sit around and hear about the specific things that bring joy to each one of them. For Tony, it's "food", he says with a mouthful of turkey, his once plump body is now so thin and gaunt he thinks he might have a tapeworm. Grandpa told him he looks like a praying mantis. He does, sort of.

Jordy has wonderful and interesting ways of maintaining balance. And Mia is thankful for kneepads, because her knees had been covered in bruises for months from dance. My aunt, Alane, is one of the most interesting and articulate people I know. And I just feel elated to be once again in their presence.

This morning, we took my dog for a walk on the beach, and tried carrying a huge man-of-war jellyfish that had washed up on shore, back into the ocean, only to have it split down the middle before we got to the waterline. I miss the ocean.

Home is nice.
