I'm at Whitman Library, distracted, like most afternoons. Reading short stories instead of test notes, and other bits and pieces of literature. Trying to focus. Trying to find balance. Mind ruminating over beguiling irrelevancies, of pretty things that I enjoy, and don't need. Remembering days when I was so sure of myself and everything that I wanted.

I am going to share with you a haiku poem I found in a children's picture storybook downstairs.
I wish you were here, sitting beside me, so you could see over my shoulder the illustration that goes along with it. The combination got Jess and I a bit choked up. But we're silly, and quixotic. Especially when we're together.

The lone snowman
Only he hears
the chitter chatter of the stars
