Sufjan Stevens "That Was The Worst Christmas Ever!"

december 9

It's late monday night, and it's quiet. I miss this. The simplicity. The silence.

I'm about to go to sleep, and I just found a chocolate bar I had bought from the SAC earlier this afternoon and had forgotten about. This reminds me of the time, my senior year of high school in the dorm at UCA, when Lauren Stingl and I heard that eating chocolate late at night was supposed to make you dream crazy things. We both ate a piece before saying goodnight, and then left journals by our bedsides, to record our dreams right as we had woken up.

She dreamt something about being a Geisha, where all of Japan had flooded, and she had to paddle around on a bamboo raft. And I think I dreamt something about perusing cathedrals in Europe with Karlan Wolfkill. We were standing side by side in the isle, staring up at the mural painted ceiling, when an opium poppy grew down from the ceiling and in front of his face, and just as he reached out to pick it off the stem, I woke up.

Last year for Christmas, she sent me a package of madlibs and a purse she had hand-sewn from a pair of her old jeans. She wrote in the card, that I was one of "the most sincere people she has ever known", and hearing that from someone you sincerely care about, to me, means a whole lot. Sometimes its nice to think back on all the people whom have drifted in and out of my life, and all of the people that I care so much about, and can't imagine life without.

Dear friends, you light everything up.

FYI: Josh wallace and I were just talking about you the other night and how much we appreciate you and all you do. Your thoughts, your ideas, your art, your depth, and your love for others. Thinking of you brings only smiles :)

I was just googling myself to see how important I am and I came across this post. I think I remember you telling me about this dream, but it is still funny that I would show up in your food-induced dreams.
